For Hills Transport customers, winning the 2008 Mercury Awards category of Top Transport & Logistics Provider validates their great choice in selecting Hills as a business partner and provider.
Over the last 25 years Hills Transport has consolidated its reputation as the leading logistics provider for regional New South Wales.
While other businesses have expanded interstate, leapfrogging from one capital city to another, Hills has deepened and extended its services to communities in the country.
It’s this creative development of a specialised market that earned Hills Transport its win in the 2008 Logistics Magazine Mercury Awards category Top Transport and Logistics Provider.
Hills Transport administration manager Nick Forsythe says the company was over the moon about winning the award. “It was excellent recognition for the team at Hills,” he says. “It’s always a team effort here and it’s great to have that effort recognised by our peers as well as our customers. Our thanks to Logistics Magazine and CHEP for its sponsorship.”
Forsythe says it’s undoubtedly people that make the Hills business successful. “We have a great team culture and our leadership has a lot of experience in the transport industry,” he says.
“When you have the right people with the right attitude, you’re able to give your customers the service they want as well as taking continuous improvement opportunities. Hills has always been willing to ‘give it a go’, therefore we have always been very responsive and innovative in meeting our customers’ needs.”
“Internally this award gave all of our employees the recognition they richly deserve, and of course our customers come first so it further enhances the already well regarded brand of Hills Transport in the marketplace.”
Looking to the future, Forsythe maintains that to remain a market leader the company will need to to show consistent innovative leadership.
“At the moment we’re focussing on extending our reach as part of a wider network and on the introduction of mobile technology,” he says, “which we see it as a must to service our customers.
"Track and trace isn’t new overall, but it is in regional areas. By providing electronic sign-on-screen proof of delivery in real time, we’re providing our customers real value with a level of transparency other companies can’t offer.”
“For us it’s not just about transport,” he adds. “As a service provider we’re happy to help our customers maintain their quality KPIs and solve issues as they arise.
"We like to be a meaningful part of our customers’ business and we’re very excited about being able to do that.”
