The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) has today congratulated the Managing Director of Toll Holdings, Paul Little, on his appointment as an Officer of the Order of the Australia in the Australia Day Honours List.

The Chairman of the ATA, Trevor Martyn, says the honour recognised Mr Little’s long contribution to the transport and logistics sector.

"Under Paul’s leadership, Toll has grown to become the Asian region’s leading provider of logistics services, including road, rail, air, sea freight and warehousing," Martyn says.

"The group has an annual revenue of $6.5 billion, and employs more than 35,000 people in 50 countries."

"Toll is at the forefront of corporate social responsibility, including through its Second Step program, which provides supported employment to people who have trouble getting work because of a previous drug addiction or because they were in prison.

"Paul was recognised as the Freight Business Person of the Year in 2000 and as the Trans-Tasman Business Leader of the Year in 2005.

"He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

"In his private life, Paul has contributed enormously to the community as a philanthropist through his support of sport and medical research, including the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.

"Paul’s appointment as an Officer of the Order of Australia is a well-deserved recognition of his long service to our industry and his prominent role in the community," Mr Martyn says.
